Maintain · Monitoring, repair & recovery

The unglamorous work that keeps a site healthy.

Monthly website maintenance for small businesses in Connecticut and remote — updates, backups that are actually restored, uptime and certificate monitoring, and an hour of changes every month — plus one-off repairs and recovery when something is already broken, hacked or abandoned.

What maintenance means here: the website is kept updated and backed up, the backup is restored somewhere safe to prove it works, uptime and certificates are watched every day so I find out before your customers do, and the small changes a business needs every month — hours, a price, a staff photo, a page — are included. No contract term; cancel and the site stays yours, in your accounts.

Who this is for

Any business whose website matters but who has nobody watching it: the practice whose form quietly stopped delivering, the shop whose certificate expired on a Saturday, the contractor whose developer stopped answering two years ago. Sites I built, and sites I did not.

What the monthly care plan includes

Updates kept current

Core, theme and plugin updates applied on a schedule, checked afterwards so an update does not become an outage.

Backups that are actually tested

Weekly backups, stored off the server, and restored somewhere safe on a cycle — not just listed as green in a dashboard.

Uptime and certificate monitoring

Watched daily. If the site goes down at 2 a.m. or a certificate is about to lapse, I find out first.

One hour of changes every month

New hours, a price, a staff photo, a page, a seasonal banner. Ask by email; it gets done.

Security checks

Admin accounts, failed-login patterns, file changes and known vulnerabilities reviewed as part of the routine.

Reporting that fits on one screen

A short monthly note: what was updated, what was restored, what changed, anything you should decide.

No contract term

Month to month. Cancel any time and the site, the accounts and the backups stay yours.

The same person

The person who answers the email is the person who does the work. Malcan Physical Therapy has run on this since 2023.

Broken?

Something already broken?

A button that goes nowhere, a form that stopped delivering, an expired certificate, a site that has been hacked, a domain about to lapse, or a developer who stopped answering. I take these on as one-off repairs with a flat quote — usually days, not weeks.

Broken forms and buttons

Contact forms silently failing, links to nowhere, checkout errors.

Expired certificates and DNS

The browser warning that scares customers away, fixed and set to renew itself.

Hacked or defaced sites

A paid assessment first, credited toward the cleanup, then a written scope and flat quote within 48 hours.

Abandoned projects

Regaining control of the domain, hosting and files when the previous developer is gone. See the recovery guide.

Speed and mobile problems

Slow pages, layouts that break on phones, images that weigh more than the page.

Migrations

Moving hosts or platforms without losing the rankings you already have.
